Distance: 11 km

Hiking Time: 5-7 hours

Habitat: Rain Forest

You will be driven from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate, passing through the village of Machame, located on the lower slopes of the mountain. As we leave the park gate behind, our walk starts through the rain forest on a winding trail up the ridge. At some sections the trail can be muddy and slippery, so the gaiters and trekking poles are good to bring. At the end of our today’s trek lies Machame Camp, where we stay for the night.

Distance: 5 km

Hiking Time: 4-6 hours

Habitat: Moorland

The second day continues through increasingly sparse trees and bushes into moorlands. The day finishes with Shira Camp, which is on a small plateau in the high moorlands, and features views of Kibo in the northeast and Mount Meru towards the west. White necked ravens can be seen throughout the day. There is also a set of small caves a short walk from the campsite known as the Shira Caves.

Distance: 10 km

Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

Habitat: Semi Desert

Today’s route turns east into a semi desert and rocky landscape surrounding Lava Tower. Lunch will be served in a designated area before ascending the rocky path to Lava Tower. After lunch you descend again to the Barranco camping area and after reaching the high altitude of 4600m at Lava Tower, you will feel the actual benefit of acclimatization. This descent to Barranco camp takes about 2 hours and offers great opportunities to take some beautiful photographs of the Western Breach and Breach Wall.

Distance: 5km

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

Habitat: Alpine Desert

A steep climb up the eastern wall leads us just below the Heim Glacier, where we may have some spectacular views of Kilimanjaro. We then take a steep exit up the Great Barranco Wall, which divides us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo, the trail continues down into the alpine desert of the Karanga Valley, finally we have a steep climb up to Karanga Camp.

Distance: 4km

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

Habitat: Alpine Desert

After breakfast, we leave Karanga and cross the junction that connects with the Mweka Trail, used for descend from the mountain later. From here we continue up to the Barafu Camp. Here we will rest, have dinner and prepare for the summit day. From Barafu you can enjoy the view of two volcanic cones Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, and that view is quite spectacular and you should not miss it.

Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent

Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent

Habitat: Arctic

An early start for the ascent to the rim of the Kibo Crater between the Rebmann and Ratzel Glaciers. The last section before the rim can sometimes be snow-covered and an ice-axe or ski stick is useful for balance. At the rim we will reach Stella point, from where we have further hour to Uhuru Peak. After a short stop for taking photos we descend to the Barafu Hut for a rest and lunch before continuing on past Millenium camp down to Mweka Hut in the giant heather zone on the forest edge. Those with the strength left from the summit may wish to descend to the Reutsh Crater and visit the ice pinnacles of the Eastern Icefields. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

Distance: 10 km

Hiking Time: 3-4 hours

Habitat: Rain Forest

After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. From the gate, you continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at a village to drive you back to a hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

All this together makes Zanzibar excellent place to for full relaxation and discovering its hidden gems.

Thanks to its fantastic climate, magnificent beaches and fascinating attractions, Zanzibar is the essence of tropical Africa and the Indian Ocean. Zanzibar has some of the best beaches anywhere in Africa and arguably the world, the best of which are to be found along the east coast on the northern part of the island. The beaches in this region are protected by off shore coral reefs and have fine white coral sand

It is characterized by beautiful, white, sandy beaches edged with coral reefs, forests, and the magic historic Stone Town – possibly the only ancient town in East Africa that is still functioning. Zanzibar archipelago is approximately 35km off shore from the Tanzania mainland and only six degrees south of the Equator.

It is comprised of two main Islands, Unguja (also called Zanzibar Island), and Pemba, along with many smaller islands and atolls. These provide miles and miles of palm lined beaches and colorful coral reefs perfect for diving or just soaking in the laid back atmosphere.

Stone Town and its port are predominate in the west coast, with the beaches of Mangapwani and the slave caves visible at low tide are less than half an hour drive. You should also spend a night or two on the East or North cost is well rewarding of the extra hour drive to get there. The Chole Island Marine Park next to the Stone Town, and nearby Prison, Grave and Snake Islands, form a refreshing day trips and splendid break from exploring narrow streets of the old city.

South coast of Zanzibar is reserved for Menai Bay Conservation Area, protected area for the endangered marine species that come to breed on the island. On the roads to South coast you should definitely take a break at the famous Jozani Forest, habitat of the rare Red Colobus monkeys and a good number of other primates and small antelope species.

Explore Stone Town, the prolific cultural and historical heart of Zanzibar City, on this half day walking tour. You should not miss the opportunity to get to know this UNESCO World Heritage site and its unique architecture, visit a local marketplace, check out the church and memorial at the old slave market, admire the former home of the sultan, and do some shopping.

This green oasis of fascinating trees such as mangroves, spices and rare species like red Columbus monkeys, blue monkeys, chameleon, bush pigs and Adders dulcimers, is a very special treat. This magnificent forest habitat and the unique species that live together in it are one of the last remaining Eco-cultures of its kind in the world.

Visit the white sandy beaches and spectacular coral reefs of Prison Island on this day trip from Stone Town, Zanzibar. Take a short boat ride to the island and spend your day snorkeling alongside tropical fish, hiking and relaxing in the sun.

You will be taken to natural habitats where dolphin migrate and you can watch them from your boat or put on snorkeling gear and swim right alongside them in the Indian Ocean.

Canoeing provide you with opportunity to go beyond the busy roads and immerse in the crystal clear waters of Indian Ocean, and you will see unusual aquatic flora and fauna on seldom seen smaller islands nearby, that are usually not visited by people. You will be accompanied by guides who will direct you and take control of the canoe, if necessary.

Yet another memorable experience. Cruising around the island on traditional dhow boats used to carry merchandise in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean back in a day, is a event you will remember forever.

Nested in the heart of the island, Bwejuu beach is one of the places you should not miss while you are on Zanzibar. It is famous for its white sands, beautiful scenery along its coastline and aquatic sports activities such as snorkeling, swimming, boating, and fishing.

The state of Tanzania (United Republic of Tanzania) is located in the eastern part of central Africa, washed by the Indian Ocean, in which there are a number of islands, including the archipelago of Zanzibar. The capital is Dodoma.

On the territory of Tanzania are: 15 National Parks, the highest mountain in Africa – Kilimanjaro (5895 m), the largest freshwater lake in Africa – Lake Victoria.

Kilimanjaro International Airport, located between the cities of Arusha and Moshi, approximately 50 km south-west from the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa (5895 m), an extinct stratovolcano located in northeastern Tanzania, near the cities of Arusha and Moshi.

Archipelago of Zanzibar. There are two main islands that make up the mysterious, yet romantic name ZANZIBAR, Unguja the capital island and Pemba her smaller twin sister. Early Indian sea farers made it a stopping of point with their trading caravans called the island “ZENJI BAR” meaning the black coasts.

The Island has some of the best beaches anywhere in Africa and arguably the world

Nungwi – large village and the famous beach. The place has a party atmosphere

Matemwe – long idyllic stretch of coast, offering fine sand and a great base from which to go snorkelling or diving.

The island itself is a breeding ground for turtles and they are often seen gliding by along with dolphins, huge schools of fish, whale sharks and humpbacks when in season.

The Stone City is the story of Zanzibar. Stone Town is a World Heritage site and is the most atmospheric and vibrant of all the remaining traditional Swahili settlements. Architecturally it’s a fusion of African and Arab influences not dissimilar to the medinas of Morocco with its narrow streets, twists and turns.

The Anglican Cathedral – first Cathedral in East Africa been built in 1870s by the Universities Mission to Central Africa.

Jozani Forest and Sultan’s Palace

Getting married on Zanzibar is becoming more and more popular.

Spice Tour – no trip to Zanzibar would be complete without a tour of a traditional spice farm. Over the years Zanzibar has been one of the largest exporters of cloves and other spices.

Each morning the local pod of dolphins wake from their overnight spot in Menai Bay and prepare themselves for the day ahead, playing with the tourists is just part of their morning routine.
