Rongai Route 6DAYS
TREKKING MOUNT KILIMANJARO TANZANIA.

The Rongai route starts just south of the Kenya – Tanzania border and has been. Day 0 – pre trek briefing by the head guide
Day 1 – Simba camp
the climb begins from the attractive wooden village of Nalemoru (1950m) on a small path that winds up through fields of maize and potatoes before entering into the rain forest that shelters a variety of wildlife, to reach Simba camp 2600m (3-4 hrs).
Day 2 – Third cave camp
The morning walk is steady ascent up to the third cave camp, with the superb view of Kibo and mawenzi peak. Overnight at third cave camp 3720m (6 hrs).
Day 3- Kibo hut
We cross the lunar desert of the saddle the land form between Kibo and Mawenzi to reach Kibo hut 4700m (4hrs)
Day 4- Summit
we will start the final ascent at 11:00 or at midnight we ploy very slowly in the darkness on a switchback trail through loose volcanic scree to reach uhuru peak 5895m.then we have few minutes taking pictures then descend to horombo hut to spend our final night (11 – 13 hrs) here is where you say goodbye to your guides, cook and porters by shaking hands and if your satisfied with the service they give you, tip them.
Day 5- Marangu gate
A steady descent takes us down through moorland then to Montana rain forest to reach Marangu gate 1970m,were by your van will be there ready to transport you back to the hotel or airport. 6hrs).

SOME KILIMANJARO TIPS :
What to Bring (Equipments/Gears).
Foot Wear:
-Hiking Boot, Tennis shoes, 3 pair thin socks, 3 pair thick socks.
Body Wear:
– 2 Long underwear.
– 1 Short.
– 2 hiking pants (easy dry).
– 1 waterproof pant.
– 3 short-sleeved T-shirt – moisture wicking fabric.
– 3 long-sleeved shirts – best layers – moisture wicking fabric.
– 1 down Jacket with hood.
– 1 thick fleece.
– 1 Waterproof Jacket with hood.

HOW TO PREPARE – (EXERCISE) EITHER OF THE BELOW WILL HELP:
– The most important is a Positive mental Status – prepare yourself for an Adventure Trip , e.g. dusty, muddy, Cold, Hot, long walks, rough, different experience,- different Culture and try to enjoy them.
– Aerobic Exercises combined with long distance jogging at least 6 – 10 Kms per day 3 times a week.
– Slow pace running – long distance 10kms per day at least 3 times a week.
– Rope skipping if you can combine with a short distance walking 5kms per day at least 4 times a week.
– Biking also combined with aerobics.
– Swimming combined with long distance walking 10kms per day 3 times a week.
– Medical checkup – Heart, Diabetes, Hernia, seizure disorder, Kidney, Asthma, Hypoglycemia, intestinal, head trauma, dislocation etc.
CHOOSING A ROUTE
– This depends on your Time schedule/ accommodation on the Mountain e.g. – Camping or lodging.
– Scenery is almost the same on all the 6 routes as we have 5 zones on Kilimanjaro.
– Most routes are Camping except Marangu route which you sleep in the Hut.

Day 3 – Kikelelwa camp
this is the short day trek that you trek 3 hours to reach the Kikelelwa camp 3620m, but you have a choice of doing a day hike to 4900m then descend back to camp
Day 4- mawenzi Turn Hut
This is another breath taking day as you have 3 hours of trekking to reach the Mawenzi Turn Hut Camp 4350m which is below the mawenzi peak 5149m, you will have a choice of acclimatizing yourself by climbing the mawenzi peak till 4800m then descend back to camp.
Day 5- Kibo Hut
